Hutchings Psychiatric Center is a comprehensive, community-based mental
health facility providing an integrated network of inpatient and
outpatient services for children and adults residing in the Central New
York region. The Center is situated on a 12 building campus in the
University Hill district in the heart of the Syracuse medical community.
The facility is adjacent to the SUNY Upstate Medical University and is
within a 5 minute walk to Syracuse University, as well as the city's

Center has been serving Onondaga, Cayuga, Cortland, Madison and Oswego

Hutchings is one of only two major psychiatric teaching hospitals associated with the Department of Psychiatry of Upstate Medical University. Additionally, the Center sponsors a nationally recognized APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship in Clinical Psychology. New York State Department of Health is dedicated to ensuring quality
health care in all of the State’s health care facilities. We strive toward
this goal by measuring the care rendered to patients in comparison to a
code of rules and regulations which all facilities must follow. This code
involves minimum standards of care which facilities are required to
provide.
Any complaints against a hospital submitted to the Department’s attention regarding patient care or environmental concerns are investigated by Department staff. The Department’s investigation of complaints determines whether or not the facility fulfilled the requirements of the State Health Code based on the concerns raised. The Department conducts surveys and investigations of hospitals for both State licensure purposes and through a contractual relationship with the federal government."
