  • Central NY PC Users Group (CNYPCUG).  "The Central New York Personal Computer Users Group was founded in 1985 by a small group of people who shared a common interest in personal computers. The group at present consists of over 200 members. As in our beginning, the Users Group is comprised of individuals whose level of skill with computing ranges from novice to professional. What draws us together is the desire to explore the ever-changing world of personal computing, and to share our insights with as many others as possible. CNYPCUG was granted federal non-profit status in 1989 and is an all-volunteer group. Our mandate is to serve the public by disseminating unbiased information about personal computing through our monthly newsletter, monthly general meetings, classes and workshops."

  • Mohawk Valley Personal Computer User Group, Inc.  "The Mohawk Valley PC Users Group Inc. (MVPCUG) provides support and camaraderie to computer users of all skill levels throughout the Mohawk Valley. MVPCUG does this through vendor presentations, special interest groups (SIGs), workshops, a monthly newsletter, and a Web site. "Members Helping Members" is the way of the club."
  • Syracuse Linux Users Group.  "We are devoted to providing education, support, and opportunities to network (the human kind!) with like-minded Linux and computer users. Any individual, business or organization that is interested in the Linux operating system is welcome."
  • Syracuse Macintosh Users Group.  "The Syracuse Macintosh Users Group has been a part of the Apple product user community here in CNY since 1979. Throughout that time we've been a support fixture and an information conduit for anyone interested in software and hardware products associated with the Apple ][ and Macintosh platforms. Members can have their email address or website listed here so the community we call SMUG can stay in touch. Enjoy these Web pages; a few of them are still under construction, and they all need your input. Let the Webmaster know if you have any suggestions or corrections."
  • Tri-County Personal Computer User Group, Inc.

Nature Organizations

  • Central New York Mycological Society.  "The Central New York Mycological Society was founded in about 1980 as in informal not-for-profit, educational group of academicians and hobbyists. Our current membership of about 100 consists of amateur and professional mycologists, scientists, college professors and people who like to collect, photograph, identify and cook wild mushrooms."
  • Onondaga Audubon Society.  "Onondaga Audubon Society is the largest chapter of National Audubon serving Central New York. Although OAS was named upon its founding in the early Fifties for Syracuse's home county, the organization has also become very active in Oswego County, where it owns two wildlife sanctuaries, and Madison County, where many members reside.

With more than 1,500 members (a group which includes virtually all of the area's most enthusiastic bird watchers), OAS caters to folks with a yen for nature study and appreciation in all forms. In keeping with our mission, Onondaga Audubon offers many services that are free and open to everybody — members or not."
