Nature Organizations
- Central New York
Mycological Society. "The Central New York Mycological Society
was founded in about 1980 as in informal not-for-profit, educational group
of academicians and hobbyists. Our current membership of about 100
consists of amateur and professional mycologists, scientists, college
professors and people who like to collect, photograph, identify and cook
wild mushrooms."
- Onondaga Audubon Society.
"Onondaga Audubon Society is the largest chapter of National Audubon
serving Central New York. Although OAS was named upon its founding in the
early Fifties for Syracuse's home county, the organization has also become
very active in Oswego County, where it owns two wildlife sanctuaries, and
Madison County, where many members reside.
With more than 1,500 members (a group which includes virtually all of the
area's most enthusiastic bird watchers), OAS caters to folks with a yen
for nature study and appreciation in all forms. In keeping with our
mission, Onondaga Audubon offers many services that are free and open to
everybody — members or not."
- Syracuse Scuba Club.
"Welcome to the Syracuse Scuba Club, created to promote scuba diving in
the Syracuse and central New York area communities."
- Syracuse University Outing Club.
"The Syracuse University Outing Club, founded in 1935, is run by students
of Syracuse University and the SUNY College of Environmental Science and
Forestry. Membership is open to the entire university community. Our
purpose is to promote the enjoyment of our natural environment, and to
have a lot of fun in the outdoors. We offer trips of all types, at levels
from beginner to expert."
